Each Auric layer has a function and a 'light vibration'. When discussing the movement and 'particles of the aura,' another term within the metaphysical world is 'Electromagnetic Frequency'. This image portrays what most people see, if they can see auras. A body within a sphere of light that extends about 1.5 meters at all points from the body. It is in a constant state of motion and you could scan it in the morning and then again in the evening, and it will have observable changes because of the influences of light upon their vibration throughout the day. It might be lighter and brighter, or it may be darker, and have more of a specific colour (for instance at the end of the work day there may be more red if there has been a lot of stress).

About the Aura

What do we mean by "Light"?

Once again - this is a very 'light' description and explanation. When we talk about light, we are, in essence, talking about the colour spectrum. In the past, when metaphysicians discussed 'coloured healing rays', it was often perceived by many as hocus pocus, but we have come a little way since then.

Many metaphysicians believe that the concept of healing rays originates from Hindu beliefs about the "Seven Horses" mentioned in the Vedas, their sacred text. The Seven horses were said to carry the 'Sun God' in his chariot across the sky. While there is debate around what the scriptures meant (or symbolised) there is consensus that the seven horses are directly associated with the Chakra system.

This author interprets the seven horses to refer to the now evidentially proven seven colour rays of the 'colour spectrum' that the metaphysicans have been referring back to for centuries, including the colour healing therapists for chakra balancing. In the 21st century, we now know from an evidence-based scientific perspective that there are seven primary colours the eye can perceive, each with different hues and shades. Interestingly, scientists have also supported the idea that white light is the primary light, and it is through white light (such as sunlight, lamps, and so forth) that the other colours come into existence as they reflect from the surroundings and through the lens of our eyes.

Whether scientists like it or not, they also support the idea of auras and chakras by explaining that research has shown a positive and negative impact on a person's mood. Auras and Light "Vibration"

What do we mean by "Light Vibration"

Many people will talk about 'light' or 'raising their vibration' without fully understanding what this means. When we talk about 'Light Beings,' we are referring to spiritual beings of the highest light vibration. When we talk about vibration, we are referring to the matter that the Aura is composed of, which encompasses both weight and speed. So the best way I learned to explain it is that a low-vibration item is like a rock - it's heavy in your hand, you can feel the pressure on your hand indisputably when you pick it up, and if you hold it up to the light then -it creates a shadow and blocks the light (you can't see the light through it).

From the perspective of speed, understanding this requires recognising that the physical body is composed of cells that are in constant motion but cannot be seen with the naked eye. However, the body cells can be observed through specialised equipment, such as a microscope. The auric body is also made up of cells or molecules that are in perpetual movement, and the faster they go, the more light can pass through into the Aura. The lowest vibration (or slowest vibration) is the physical body, which has physical weight, creates a shadow and moves slowly. As we go outward with the Aura, each layer becomes lighter (less heavy or "dense"), the cellular structure moves faster than the previous layer, and this allows more LIGHT (as in light rays) to penetrate through the Aura into the human body and the chakras. Where the human body cells can be seen with the microscope, the human Aura can be seen with specialist equipment (Kirlian Photography), or clairvoyants can see the Aura energetically when they raise their vibration.

Overview

It is essential to understand that the aura is fluid and changeable, and once you become adept at viewing the aura using your clairvoyant skills, you will start to see and notice the changes. The aura consists of both colours and layers, and the layers of the aura are subject to change as well – they can shrink in certain situations, and they can expand during others. When we are under stress or struggling with our boundaries, they may 'rip or tear', so they need maintenance, as well as the chakras, because they work and function interactively with them. It's easiest from a maintenance perspective to do the chakra and aura work at the same time. If you have visited an 'energy healer' or a reiki practitioner, everyone adapts and finds a method that works for them. Some will do hand clapping to clear blockages, and they might 'fluff the aura' upon completion of a 'session'; if you are doing the maintenance yourself, there are different types of methods for balancing both the chakras and the auras. Check the self-healing tab on this site or google to find methods. If you are doing the work yourself, most healing activities (if not all) will start with the sacred breath or a sacred breathing technique. If a person has been working on a specific chakra, you can expect to see the aura filled with the primary colour of the chakra; if they have been working upon 'raising their vibration', it can become a brilliant and almost blinding white colour. While some people recommend focusing intention on a specific chakra, it can create an auric and chakric imbalance. Therefore, it is best to work with all of them together and daily is ideal. NOTE: The image and content on this page refers to the seven primary layers of the aura (of which as the soul expands there are many more). The image portrays what is referred to as the "third dimensional model of the aura'. This site may later contain the information for fourth and fifth dimensional aura layers.

The Physical Body:

The Physical Body is the heaviest of the energy bodies. We all know it – it is not transparent; it carries physical weight, and light does not pass through it. Our physical body creates a physical shadow. Our physical body is the final manifestation of the energy body on the physical plane. We are spiritual beings first, and then the physical body – born to have the physical experience. Not only does the physical body carry a physical shadow – it is the only layer that is associated with the emotional and psychological shadow – the other aspect of us, often referred to as ego, is locked in the perception that we are singular and individual ‘self’ and disconnected from ‘others and a task for all is to remember we are more than the physical body, and the limitations, and to remember the ‘soul purpose’ the reason we were born on this earth. Central to the physical body is the ‘divine spark’ or the “namaste’ also known as the “light within’ that many will call the ‘soul diamond’ or the Holy Spirit.

Layer 1: The Etheric Body

The Etheric Body is the first of the ‘subtle’ energy bodies or energy ‘fields’; it is said to be our first electromagnetic field. It is close to the physical body, comprising the muscles, tissues, bones, and other elements that make up our physiology. It is connected to the base chakra and is the space that is impacted by what is occurring with our emotional state or physical survival needs. When a person has compromised immunity or leads a sedentary lifestyle, the etheric body becomes vulnerable or weakened. It is particularly beneficial for athletes or individuals with a physically active lifestyle. It emanates (or vibrates) about three to five inches away from your physical body. It sits about two inches away from the physical body (and the distance is debated). Some people will see it ‘pulsating’. When we talk about ‘aura scans, ’ it is this energy space that a healing adept will look at – and this layer encompasses the entirety of the physical body (like the first layer of the onion wrapping the onion heart). When the physical body is ‘weakened’ or struggling, the etheric body will show patterns that reflect what is happening to and within the physical body, including if there are any ‘tears’ in the aura. For full physical health, it is essential to maintain this layer of the aura. Kirlian photographs of the aura tend to show them rainbow-coloured with lots of movement of coloured energy. Most adepts will see it as being dull or grey – with any dysfunctional pockets highlighted in a brighter colour. Some might see red – others might see yellow. Clairvoyance and energy interpretation are individual. If you find yourself feeling fatigued or exhausted or simply not functioning as well as you could be – then as you do your energy work, give yourself a quick ‘aura scan’. You can find a strategy for scanning your aura here.

Layer 2: The Emotional Body

The emotional body is the second subtle body, situated just outside the physical body, at a distance of approximately six to nine inches from it. It is connected to the sacral chakra and reflects the emotional and feelings state. It can be all the colours of the rainbow; however, when a person is under duress or experiencing heightened emotional states such as stress, grief, loss, despair, or being overwhelmed by fear, it can become "muddy" looking when the emotional body is muddy it's reasonably easy to determine the state of the chakra function. It also carries karma memory, especially if an emotion is associated with the memory. Its appearance will improve, along with its function and vibration, as a person learns emotional self-mastery.

Layer 3: The Mental Body

The mental body (Layer Three) sits about nine to twelve inches from the physical body and is connected to the Solar Plexus chakra (and the Throat chakra). It tends to radiate strongest around the head, neck, and shoulders, especially in people who are actively engaging their brainpower or those with an overactive mind. Students, for example, when actively studying, will have coloured sparks flowing in this layer (especially around the head and throat areas). Creative and artistic individuals will also exhibit activity as they attempt to articulate and express their inner vision, bringing it to life. It is associated with thoughts and beliefs. Our thoughts directly correlate with our emotions. Healing adepts and clairvoyants will usually see this layer as 'bright yellow'. It is within this law that we start the manifestation process – or the spiritual law of attraction – because of 'what we think, we create". If we focus on negativity or limitation, it sits in our aura and attracts it. Equally, holding positive thoughts will attract more positive experiences to us. This particular layer also keeps the memory of everything we have learned in our current life.

Layer 4: The Astral Body

The astral body is the fourth layer away from the physical body – sitting at about twelve inches (or more) from the physical body and is connected to the heart chakra. Some people will see it as a stunning, rosy pink type colour, and others will see it as a beautiful emerald green. This layer is associated with love, affection, and care. When a person feels loved, loves, and is loveable, the astral body becomes stronger. However, it can become weaker during relationship conflicts or breakdowns. It acts as a bridge between the lower astral bodies and the higher/ spiritual ones. The state of the chakra function is also easy to determine at this layer. It is where we form 'astral cords' with others, and there is no division between the soul and the personality.

This layer also requires a level of self-mastery - in acceptance of self and the recognition that we are 'souls in progress' and that we all 'make mistakes' as humans. Self-acceptance does not mean that we excuse and justify any errors of judgment in physical life - it simply means that we understand and acknowledge our divinity. We recognise that, as humans, we're living within limitations. We are all loved, loving and loveable at the 'higher levels', and at the astral level, this is a 'core knowledge'. We also recognise that while we still breathe, we can evolve ourselves within our physical existence. Additionally, we are aware that if we have hurt someone, it is important to 'make good' in this lifetime to avoid taking negative karma into the next one. We also understand that we can maximise our developmental opportunities for physical existence while in the body - especially by directing them to humanitarian causes and a brother/sisterhood consciousness.

Layer 5: The Etheric Template/ Spiritual Body

The Etheric Body, or Spiritual Body, is considered the etheric template. It sits about two to three feet from the physical body. It is the fifth layer of the physical body and holds the entire divine blueprint that exists on the physical plane – including your creations, your identity, personality and overall energy. It is connected to the throat chakra and often referred to as the seat of the soul - the colour can vary. It is strengthened through the expression of truth (yours) and self-awareness -knowing who you are at a core level. It is where our personality interacts as a soul, and it is where the divine will of the unfolding patterns of all life force – it holds symbols and is an aspect of consciousness. It's where we' tune in' at a subconscious level. It is the 'inner knowing'. It occurs without our even being aware of it, or even consciously, although we can access it with direction should we choose to. Our personality is more than just our physical nature; it is influenced by the patterns of our daily lives, as well as the inherited memories and cultural influences encoded in our DNA. Our daily emotional and mental states also impact it. Shocks to the system and feeling 'let down' by the universe' will affect this template and its clarity (or rather our ability to access it) because of a potential loss of faith, the crisis of faith and a lack of trust in the 'process of life'.

Once 'we recognise that the universe does not revolve around us and see our place in the big picture as an evolving part, it is easier to let go of the desire to control and to go with the flow of things. From a simplified perspective, if the whole of life were a 'play,' we all have a role, but none of us are the 'stars of the show.' There is one star, however: the Creator. All of our roles are supporting ones, although there may be interchangeable 'leads' within the cast. "Not my "will – Divine Will", or "blessings seen and unseen", we understand that even if we can't consciously see it, there is a divine order in all things and events that occur across our life path. (NOTE: this does not mean that everything in our physical existence is preordained, as we have free will. It does mean that the 'big' and probably the most traumatic or eventful aspects of life are ones that were part of the original plan and where we still have free will). When this spiritual body is functioning well – there is an ease of access to communicate with Spirit.

Layer 6: The Celestial Body

The Celestial body is the sixth body or layer from the physical body, and it is connected to the 'rainbow chakra. The Rainbow Chakra (also known as the Celestial or Angelic Chakra) is depicted in the image as a white and gold lotus flower, situated approximately a foot above the crown chakra, located at the top of the head. It draws upon the energy of the throat, the brow and Crown chakra. The Celestial body sits about 5 feet (1.5 meters from the physical body. Energetically, it is considered the point where we shift from the 'physical dimension of 3D to 4D" and the etheric plane where the spirit guides and the souls of the deceased reside –(at least temporarily ). It is characterised by very high vibration, bringing qualities of unconditional love, compassion, and knowledge. It is where our souls receive nourishment through the beauty of the arts (music, visual arts, or writing and poetry), along with nature, meditation and prayer. It is through the celestial body that a person can travel to the heavenly realms and receive information, guidance and even study. When a person reaches this state, they can channel information through to their physical existence. Those people who do mediumship or connect with guides are working at a 4D level, and when mastered, they can raise their vibration and then slow it down again when they have finished whatever spiritual task they have set for themselves. To speed up the vibration – it's necessary to fill your aura with appreciation, gratitude, honour, and respect for all parties and entities involved in whatever activity you have set yourself. It is these attributes that raise your vibration.

Layer 7: The Ketheric / Causal Body

The Ketheric or Causal body is the layer that is furthest away from your physical body. Approximately 1. 5 – 3m (or about 9 feet). It can expand and shrink, and it is what is referred to as the 'oneness,' aligning with the universe. At this level, all the information about your soul and past lives is stored, and your light body is vibrating at the highest of frequencies. It pulsates rapidly and allows for a lot of light to enter your aura. It is the layer of divine love; some people with clairvoyance see it as gold, while others see it as vibrant white, almost blinding, while others see it reflecting white as in a brilliant white pearl with a level of chatoyancy – the rainbow effect. The feelings conveyed by this layer are a sense of surrender to divine will and total trust in the process of life and lifetimes. It is at this level we are 'one with the creator'. There is an understanding of the processes of 'as above - so below', which is to some extent when a person becomes fully enlightened – even though much of this will remain beneath the conscious awareness. There is a sense of inner peace. This layer also contains your 'astral data bank', which is a record of the karma for this lifetime (and previous) and where, at the end of this life, there is a 'weighing up' of the karma to establish if the souls desired karmic balance was achieved, and what type of karma should or could be included in future lifetimes. It may be that some lessons or experiences need repetition in future lifetimes. All karma is ultimately for the soul's expansion.

Aura Scanning

Aura Scan - metaphysial healing
Aura Scan - metaphysial healing

Aura scanning is the process of looking at the aura and checking its health, and there is more than one way to do it. Using Kirlian Photography is a way to examine a person's aura (and is particularly relevant for those who have yet to develop their clairvoyant gifts). Other people will be able to sense a vibration from the person's aura and may notice pockets, tears, or rips in the aura. At other times, a metaphysical practitioner can feel the energy strengthening in specific parts of a person's aura or over their body, signifying that the area needs energising or healing. A person with well-developed clairvoyance can do a 'bird eye perspective of a person's aura'. It would be beneficial if everyone were able to scan their aura regularly. The diagrams below provide a brief explanation of how and when a person can perform an aura scan.

In the image to the left, we are looking at what a person might see within a person's aura when delivering a metaphysical healing treatment. They might also see swirls within the aura of colours, with some colours featuring more prominently, or they may even see clouds in the person's aura (such as the 'black cloud', which is addressed in the section 'Interpreting the Aura').

Clairvoyants and metaphysicians have ways of establishing through feeling or seeing pockets of energy, where there is a previous injury that still has not healed properly that requires more healing energy sent to it because it is identified as a 'vulnerability within the aura'. At other times, the 'high energy pockets' can offer symbolic meanings about what a person is experiencing emotionally, which might impact their physical body. At other times, it's an existing injury or ailment that needs some healing energy. The way that a clairvoyant will see the 'pockets' is going to be individual. For some people, the high-energy areas (or low-energy areas) may appear as a pulsing red light; for others, it can be a white light, and for still others, it could be a yellow light. For even more people, the way the information is conveyed may be changeable.

Energy Imbalances

Birds Eye Perspective Scan

In the image above, the intention is to convey a bird's-eye view. The bird's-eye perspective is a form of aura scan that differs from both healing and diagnostic scans. There is no nice way of saying this. It's a strategy to determine if a person is surrounded by individuals (or spirits) intruding and violating their personal space, including what is referred to as 'negative attachments' to a person. This type of aura scan is recommended, particularly for Energy Workers— especially psychics and mediums — as part of their healthcare.

The term' negative attachments' often raises concerns for people who interpret it to mean a malevolent spirit or entity; however, it's usually quite simply a person who became deceased before raising their awareness. They may have passed suddenly and unexpectedly (for example, in an accident) and are still coming to terms with their new state. Their energy can carry the feelings and emotions of grief and loss associated with having departed their body. They are often referred to as "Lost Souls' or "EarthBound Souls" because they are not shifting onward and upward in their soul journey. They remain at the 'earth level' albeit without a physical body. More often than not, they are not malicious; they are just sad and stuck.

Lost souls become attracted to the energy worker who, when delivering a service or doing energy work, will raise their vibration to emanate with at least the 4th plane and sometimes even the seventh plane when meditating. The light of this vibration is like a beacon and very attractive to other spirits who may come to investigate. The lost soul may come and 'stay' because it feels nice and they feel safe, offering them some respite. When they enter your auric field, you may start to feel their energy (see the section on energy sharing). In the worst instances, they may insert 'etheric cords' or 'energy hooks', which leave the person feeling depleted, fatigued, and 'not themselves', with mood fluctuations and emotional states that have no rational basis. (See the section on Energy Hooks).

These are compromises of the Auric boundary, and it is worth recalling the 'As Above- As Below', where what happens on one etheric layer occurs on all. If your spiritual boundaries are compromised, your personal and intimate boundaries are likely to be compromised as well. You can identify whether this is the case by reviewing your approach and attitude. People with little or low boundaries tend to find themselves being taken advantage of and feeling unloved, used and abused, and generally upset and disrespected. They may struggle with anger because they are asking others to respect their needs but feel that their needs are being ignored.

At other times, they may find themselves in situations (especially with new relationships) where they are on the receiving end of someone's frustrations. Their relationships are even volatile, with numerous heated arguments, and the person with the low boundaries often feels that the other person is unjustifiably aggressive in their communication style. If the person who feels unfairly treated has an attitude of 'I am an open book - I have no secrets,"; then it may be that they are not seeing that other people are not open books, are private individuals, and are crossing the boundaries by asking questions the person is not comfortable in answering. Everyone has boundaries, whether they realise it or not. The "open book' has boundaries around behaviour and 'what hurts and what doesn't, despite being transparent. To be clear - there is no excuse for aggressive or violent behaviour. It may be time to visit a professional and review your boundaries, establishing what they are and how to recognise them in others so that you can respect them (or tolerate them - you might decide that their lack of transparency and desire for secrecy is a behaviour you are not willing to accept). On the other hand, the relationship might be heading to the next stage of 'trust building' where the person with the higher boundaries is willing to drop their guard a little and let you come closer emotionally. For more information about personal boundaries - creating them and maintaining them, click here.

Benefits of a birds-eye view aura scan include psychic mediumship, where someone with well-developed clairvoyance (or psychic vision) can confirm the presence of a welcome energy in the auric field - such as guides and guardians, or the spirits of a deceased loved one. Usually, the person has been trying to make the connection and is doubting their abilities. These types of entitites don't generally stay in the aura at all times; they are usually just out of the last auric boundary and will step in and out of the person's aura upon request. When the entity comes in closer, the person will often feel the energy shifts upon the physical body as 'sensory experiences', such as heat, cold, goosebumps, tingling and so forth. Other times, they might feel a 'divine embrace' like being 'wrapped' in a blanket of love.

Aura 'Overlap' (Shared Energy)

Diagram, Aura overlap and shared energy
Diagram, Aura overlap and shared energy

Shared energy occurs when we are near another person (it can happen physically or energetically with Psychics, Mediums, and other energy workers). It is easy to understand when you think about your physical boundaries – such as when a person comes too close into your 'space' and you become uncomfortable. Generally speaking, a person's physical boundaries are approximately 1m from their body (or 1.5 m) for strangers and intimate family members (those people with whom we are incredibly comfortable), with an average distance of about 30cm. Any closer, and it starts to feel as though a person is 'in your face'. Given that the body's aura can extend anywhere from 2m to further, and considering the 1.5m distance at the shop, it can feel distinctly uncomfortable because your 'energy bodies start to merge' with that of the stranger. Shared energy often occurs in meditation groups and healing groups where people's energy becomes 'group energy'.

Where it can be problematic is where the energy that has become merged is incongruent. Once again, this doesn't make a person bad; it just means that when we go shopping, for example, everyone has to go shopping, and it doesn't matter what their mood is; they must do so. If they are grieving or just received bad news, they may feel distressed. When you are sharing energy with them (and at the shops, you are too busy to pay attention to your sensory experiences), you may find when you get home that you are distressed for no rational or logical reason – nothing has happened in your world. Yet, you are still carrying these emotions. It might also be all of a sudden you feel outraged – in a way that is out of character for you. At these times, it's essential to do a quick 'energy or aura flush' to purify your aura of anything less than love and anything that is not part of your 'truth' of who you are. Even if you are angry or distressed legitimately, an Aura flush will help rebalance, centre, and ground you, and you will be better placed to find a healthy resolution to what is troubling you. NOTE: Most reputable energy workers will perform an 'auric flush' between clients and regularly check for any 'hooks'.

Interpreting the Aura

Colours in the Aura

To understand and interpret the meaning of the colours in the Aura, it is essential in the first instance to understand what the meanings of colours are – and how they are associated with the Chakras (and the function of each chakra). They are both extensive fields of knowledge and once we understand them, we can translate this information across to the Aura and what we see in the Aura. Additionally, there is an understanding of the messages of the physical body. For instance, when conducting an auric scan, if a 'high' or low energy point shows around a particular joint, depending on which joint and which side of the body, it can be interpreted as indicating that a person is experiencing the pointy end of emotional manipulation. Depending on the side of the body, we can establish the source of the manipulation - male or female, family, friend or workplace colleague. To assist you in your information gathering, you can learn more by visiting the pages on Colours and Chakras. NOTE: Colours come in different shades and hues, and these need to be taken into consideration when interpreting the aura. As with all practices, the more they are done the easier they become.

Considerations and Cautions when Interpreting Colours in the Aura

All Colours come with hues and shades and this includes within the aura. Additionally, everything, whether it is colour or life in general, has a negative and positive attribute, and the same can be said for the colours of the aura. When interpreting the colours of the aura, we need to look at the other colours that are occurring and where they are placed within the auric body.

You will find as you do your googling and researching that different people will offer different explanations and interpretations of the colours that they see in the aura and for healing. The variations are because, quite often, the colours are a ‘language’ or symbolic of an internal imbalance or a causal factor. Therefore, you usually will see some people (such as this author) say that there is a ‘language of colour’ where the higher beings will speak or communicate through colours. However, there is also an overarching belief that the colours that are seen in the aura reflect the base ‘energy wheel healthy function’ (or dysfunction). Until you have tried and tested the meanings and language of the colours in their shades and hues, it is best to avoid diagnosing a person with mental health or physical health conditions based on your ‘observations’. Spiritual diagnostics do exist, but theirs is a ‘specialist craft’ that relies on more than their clairvoyant observations of a person’s aura.

The colour white encompasses all the colours of the colour palette, so it tends to be seen with light pastel-coloured reflections. White is not a common colour in the aura because there is a sense of constancy with it. It typically indicates that a person has been engaging in some form of energy work and is attempting to raise their vibration. It is associated with 'enlightenment' and 'self-awareness'. When a person is energy aware, they tend to work on the entire aura and chakra system simultaneously. It is unlikely to be visible through Kirlian photography due to the influence of social interaction and environmental factors, which will include potentially shared energy or aura distortions. Energy workers and metaphysicians may see it in the aura when their clairvoyant gifts are developed, either filling the entire area of a person's aura with an almost blinding white, or they may see it as 'light rays' being directed to specific parts of the human body for healing purposes. At other times, white may be observed when a Psychic or Medium is giving 'guided messages' or working with 'Spirit'.

White

Higher Consciousness, Spiritual Connection, Divine Connection, High Vibration, Wisdom, healing,

Transition, Change, Stagnation, Healing, Time to Purify the Aura

Grey

Gray in the aura is not uncommon and is usually a temporary colour. In most instances, it tends to indicate pockets of 'energy stagnation'. It does not mean a complete block of energy or lack of 'light vibration'. It may suggest that there is some old, blocked energy shifting and moving (as a consequence of energy work); other times, it might reflect a need to direct healing to a specific area. People who have 'grey in their aura may be struggling with confusion and internal conflict. It does not explicitly indicate physical or mental illness, unless there are other colours in the aura such as the lime green, orange and red.

Usually, the grey will be positioned around the area of need in the body (because of the chakra associations). When the grey is throughout the aura and not placed over a chakra, it can indicate that they have poor boundaries and pick up on the energy of other people, so their own energy merges with that of different people. It indicates a need for spiritual hygiene, at the very least.

Sometimes, it can reflect a person who is stuck in grief and sorrow over some traumatic experience (such as the death of a loved one). When there is significant grieving, however, it tends to be associated with a vibrant lime green.

Consideration

When energy workers are first developing their clairvoyance, they will often see the aura of the people they are sending energy to amidst a 'grey aura' or background. The grey allows the area that needs healing to light up (for example, in red or yellow). It's important not to assume that the person's entire aura is grey; this is about the viewer's form of receptivity to Divine messages and not necessarily about the person being 'viewed'.

Grounded, practical, stable, secure.

Brown

Brown may show up in a person's aura when they have been doing 'grounding and centring activities' or if they have an open and activated 'Earth Star chakra'. It indicates a stable and secure personality type , feeling safe with their connection to the divine, aligned with their soul's purpose and path, and deeply connected to "Mother Earth" or Gaia energy. It can reveal a person who has developed strength and resilience in the face of adversity or a person who draws upon Gaia energy, especially when the aura contains amber. Some people with brown in their aura will refer to themselves as 'Hedge Witches'. These are the independent energy workers who have a love of all life – including insects. They will most likely enjoy growing and eating food that is organic and has had limited processing. They are comfortable in their own space, and if they have a vegetable garden, they will set aside extra space for the animals and insects. Often, they have a heightened sense of self-awareness and know their limitations – which includes the possibility that they may choose to isolate themselves from other people.

Cautions

It can also indicate that the person has boundary issues and struggles to create and maintain boundaries in relationships and with other people, which can lead to feelings of isolation and aloneness- separation from the 'group' despite having a higher consciousness. Depending on where the brown sits in the aura – it may indicate that a person needs to ground or is thinking of doing grounding activities or that it is time to 'step back' and do some self-reflection and 'nourish their soul'.

Energy, Willpower, Vitality, Abundance, Prosperity, Independence and Success

Red

Red is associated with the Base chakra and is highly energetic. People with red in their aura tend to be driven to achieve their work goals. It's a 'power colour', and in the eighties, successful businessmen would wear a red tie, and women would wear their 'little red power suit'. They are usually financially successful, and ambitious. They tend to be assertive, competitive and leaders. They can think quickly, act quickly, and adapt to changes in their environment. It is usually associated with being self-disciplined regarding achieving their goals. They recognise that time is irreplaceable and dislike 'time wasters. Often, their identity is strongly linked to their material possessions. They have the drive to succeed, and they take pride in a 'job well done'.

Cautions

Often, they suppress their emotional aspects and emotional expression. Sometimes, they are so fixated on their material pursuits that they can ignore their family responsibilities or be inaccessible to children and romantic partners because they can be workaholics. They have a rebellious nature, and their preference for being a leader rather than a follower can make them resentful of any "micro-management or authoritarian leadership styles when working within a team. They may find themselves going from job to job as part of their career expansion. When the red chakra is blocked, a person can struggle to secure the base needs of accommodation and employment, and continually experience challenges with money. Their natural, active nature and desire for new experiences can make them adrenaline junkies, leading to unnecessary risk-taking. Another problem can be their ongoing desire to find new projects, so they prefer to leave the 'completion' of projects to others. When the chakra is blocked, they might even never complete any of the ideas they have and fail to manifest.

Interpretation:

Body Parts: When red highlights over a specific area (especially joints), it can show inflammation and pain, or for the energy healers – it's showing a physical health vulnerability in an area because of current thinking and belief patterns.

Base Chakra: When the red is over the Base chakra area, it can indicate a dysfunction (over or under activity within the base chakra).

Shades of Cherry: the aura at various places can indicate heightened self-esteem, with the person living to their fullest potential and energetically attracting positive results from manifestation efforts. The person is in a psychologically good space, upbeat, positive and fair.

Shades of Burgundy: Energy and vibrancy, enthusiasm for life, actively pursuing life path and life purpose. Life-will.

Blood Red: incorporates shades of yellow and takes the colour more toward orange, which can suggest fear-associated mood swings, reflecting anger and irritability. In the worst-case scenario, it can point to aggression and rage, with a limited ability to control their reactive outbursts when triggered. They can be 'quick to flare' due to a lack of intolerance for others or anything that stands between them and their 'goals'.

Kind, Caring, Loving, Compassionate, Nurturing, Emotionally Sensitive, Empathetic, Forgiving

Pink

A person with a lot of pink in their aura tends to be a very caring and loving person. Of course, pink comes in various shades and hues, with love being the overarching or underpinning emotional state. It is associated with the heart chakra, which is both green and pink when in balance. It can reflect a well-balanced approach to relationships, but in women, more often than not, it reflects a person who struggles to accommodate their own emotional needs and may feel unloved and undervalued by those around them.

The shades of pink reflect different aspects – pale pink often refers to a person who has low self-esteem and can be fairly shy and introverted, as well as very sensitive to critique by others. The pale pink or pastel pinks are often associated with the water signs, which already have a gentle nature. However, when paired with pastel blues and other pastel shades, it reflects a person who is well-balanced, sensitive, and kind and who feels loved, loving, and loveable.

The deeper and more vibrant pinks tend to indicate a person who is potentially a fire sign. They are still sensitive and loving to others, with compassion and empathy, but they tend to be more ‘fiery’ in that they will not be introverted or shy. They are comfortable for the most part in being true to themselves and within their relationships; however, at a core level, they may feel that while they can see and acknowledge the beauty of their soul (and their ‘imperfections’), they remain unrecognised within their important relationships— and family. They recognise their flaws and can accept that they are ‘works in progress,’ recognising that no one is perfect within the human context. However, we are all perfect souls in various stages of development.

The duskier, rosy pinks can suggest that a person is in either a new romantic relationship or a new stage of an existing relationship, where they feel valued, appreciated, and even sensual. They are comfortable with who they are and feel supported by the people around them.

Creativity, Procreation, Emotions, Fears, Passion, Moods

Orange

Orange blends the vibrancy of red with the power of the colour yellow, to some extent without emotional mastery. When emotional mastery and self-discipline are realised, it reflects a person making healthy choices and being creative – the creator of their destiny as opposed to reacting to events that occur in their life. Passion is a driver and motivator, and for these reasons, people with a lot of Orange in their aura can often be artistic, as part of healing and balancing their emotional state through artistic and creative expression. They may be the painters, the musicians, the artists, the writers, or even the tradespeople who work with their hands. They may be struggling to recognise that they have choices - where they can react or create to external influences.

From a personality perspective, Orange can reflect happy people with lots of laughter and a connection to others, but at the same time, it can also reflect a person with mood disorders (especially when situated over the orange chakra), with light blue in the aura over the throat chakra. It is a colour that, until a level of emotional mastery is achieved, can suggest impulsiveness, as well as a vivid imagination. Where there is also red and black in the aura, it can also potentially indicate aggressiveness or resorting to violence as a means to solve conflicts. Sometimes, when situated over the Orange chakra area, it can suggest that there might be fertility issues – especially when pink appears over the heart area or red over the base chakra.

Emotional Control, Emotional Regulation, Kundalini Activation, Divine Connection, Communication, Gaia, Nature Kingdom

Amber

Amber in the aura suggests that a person has begun the process of emotional mastery and is experiencing a level of emotional regulation. It merges the hues of orange and yellow, bringing the qualities of hope, faith, trust, and endurance, along with the courage to face challenges and the belief in overcoming adversity. It's a warm and sunny colour that, to some extent, invites abundance and blessings. The main quality of the amber is that of connectedness. When it appears as a more burnt orange shade, it typically signifies a connection to the Gaia earth energy and the capacity to harness energy for Divine connection and communication. These people are open-minded and comfortable with their sexuality and sensuality. It's a colour of the Kundalini and can indicate that the Kundalini chakra has been opened and activated, and the person is actively stepping into their power. Clairvoyants might see a person working with the Kundalini as having an amber or burned orange filling their aura, or they might see the Kundalini pulsing up and down the person's spine, or if the person with the amber in their aura is a psychic or medium, they may see the amber coming through the crown, through the person body and down into the earth. Generally speaking, the person has a positive outlook on life and is inflow (there is the knowledge that life is cyclical and enduring)

Black

The "Black Cloud"

The image above (or to the right) has been created to depict an aura with a 'black cloud' and lots of red swirling in it. People opening to their psychic gifts, or novice psychics and mediums, often misinterpret the energy (or the energy symbolism) as indicating some form of 'inadequacy' of the person with the black cloud or the red. All sorts of conclusions are made about the person being 'dark' or 'evil' or malevolent and untrustworthy, and even assumptions by the 'viewer' that the person is violent. If they are working with the highest vibration of light beings, then they will know that their guardians will never show them anything fearful or put them at risk of harm. When working with this high-vibrational guardianship, a psychic medium or clairvoyant can feel safe, especially if they are monitoring their own aura.

The usual response from a novice is that they will shut their gifts down and, retract their energy, and stop 'looking', fearful and believing that the person is evil. A better option would be to trust their guardians and refrain from judging the person with the black cloud in the aura. They do not need to 'explore the cloud' to find out what it means. Instead, they can see it as a symbolic message of violence (because it usually is), and its an opportunity for healing. It is important, however, to establish where the cloud is situated around a person, and that means going beyond the 2D flat image they first see, but rather doing the equivalent of a 'walkaround' of the person and taking the bird's-eye view. In this way, they can determine if the cloud is sitting behind the person (and how far behind - it could be the recent past or long-term past). Whether it is directly above them, and whether it is lying in front of them.

If they refrain from judgment about the person, they might gain a better understanding of the energy they are seeing. In the first instance, yes, the black cloud usually does indicate violence – but not that the person is violent. It usually suggests that the person is a survivor of a violent act or acts. These acts may have been in childhood or as an adult. If it is behind them, it suggests that they have survived violence - and this could be family or domestic violence. It is also possible that they are survivors of a war or some other conflict involving violence. It might even mean that they have spent time in refugee camps or been closely associated with violent people or people experiencing violence. An example of this is when a person acts as a counsellor or support worker to survivors and listens to their stories daily, and where there might be an energy transfer or an energetic boundary cross.

The concerns are whether the black cloud is hovering beside them, above them, or directly in front of them. This does suggest some real risk to the person, but an ethical energy worker is not going to give a fear-based message. Instead, they might mention that the 'energy appears to be compromised' and that they ardently and fervently recommend that the person practice energy boundaries and protections, including those for their car, home, and aura. If the person has young children in their care, you could recommend that they also put protection in place for their children. If they know how, they might offer to put protection on the person for them while explaining how they can maintain their aura and protection. A kind practitioner will teach how to invoke protection while recognising that the person is still developing faith and trust in the Divine. If you are unfamiliar with protection strategies for property and person, you can find some techniques here. The Psychic Code of Ethics is here. The colour therapy section can be found here.

Energy Transfer

There are other ways that a person's aura can be compromised through energy transfer as well. As with all experiences, they can be positive or, at different times, negative or unhelpful. Our thoughts are energy, and as we develop our sensory perception, we can pick up when someone is thinking or talking about us. When we keep our energy high, it's usually a positive experience where we are responsive to those who love us and whom we love. For example, you might be at work, and all of a sudden, you get the urge to call a loved one as soon as you can. At the first opportunity, you phone them, and they respond with, "thank god you called! I was thinking and wishing you would call because.. ".

Other times, when we are unwell or feeling emotionally vulnerable (such as experiencing heightened stress), we can be susceptible to negative and unloving energy. This is because our auric boundaries can become compromised at such times. An example of how this might occur is in the workplace. You and a colleague may have had a disagreement, and you are highly stressed. Your 'radar' is on overdrive, and you feel particularly out of character; you might be snipey and gnarly. You are on an emotional rollercoaster with no rational explanation. You later find out that conversations have occurred about you (unfavourably).

The people talking about you think that the conversation is between them. Still, at a higher level, the intention and the thinking that has created the conversation - transfer over to your aura. If your auric boundaries have become weakened, then their unkind, judgemental and unloving intention seeps down into your aura, muddying it. This process of transfer is a form of 'psychic attack'. The best defence against any form of psychic attack is to monitor your feelings so that you can tell what is 'yours' and what isn't. When you feel out of character, practice some spiritual hygiene and boost your aura's protection with a shielding and protection meditation. When it comes to Spiritual Hygiene, it doesn't matter whether it's 'yours' or 'theirs', your aura will be cleared anyway. Energy Hooks/Attachment

Diagram: Auras and attachments and hooks.
Diagram: Auras and attachments and hooks.

This graphic intends to provide a visual representation of what attachments look like, with the difference that the cords and hooks are energetic rather than physical. At various times in our lives, we will 'attach to people', and the attachments are not always healthy. For instance, abusive parents or intimate partners, where even though the relationship has ended, we struggle to move on from them. In these instances, it is worth performing an auric scan to determine if any cords are connecting one person to another (or between the two, moving back and forth). The points of connection show the 'cause'. For instance, in intimate relationships, it's not uncommon for one person to have a cord projecting from the sacral or base chakra to the other person, where it connects in the heart chakra. This often indicates that the first person is lusting for the second person, who is vulnerable to the hook because they are hoping for love and affection. The second person likely ended the physical relationship because they realised that the first person had no intention of committing and did not reciprocate their love. After the relationship ends, they find themselves continuing to think of the person and struggling to let go of the relationship and move forward in their life.

Other times, there is an 'attachment' in the form of a spirit who has put an etheric cord into one of your chakras (usually the heart or the solar plexus). As previously stated – not through malicious intent, but more likely because they like how the energy feels and don't know how to access it themselves beyond siphoning it from their 'host'. Whether it is a hook with a living person or a deceased person, the approach or healing strategy is the same – cutting the cords. Once you have done your cord-cutting, you can then do some auric maintenance and care, including shielding your aura. You can find a technique by clicking on the video below.
